Providence Logbook Dec 4, 1792

Remarks Tuesday 4th December 1792 Off the Cape of [Good Hope]

 1 pm: Calm and Fair Weather much Swell from the WSW.

 2 pm: Employed repairing Sails

 4 pm: Moderate Breezes and fair Weather

 5 pm: Let fresh Water into the Pumps and Ventilated as usual.

 8 pm: Tacked

 3 am: In 2nd. Reefs Fore and Mizen Top Sails.

 4 am: Fresh Breezes and Cloudy

 5 am: In 2nd. Reefs Main Top Sail A Great Head Sea.

 7 am: Down Top Gallant Yards & fore Top Gallant Mast. In 3rd Reefs.

 8 am: Served Hot Breakfast as usual. Krout with their Beef for Dinner.

 9 am: Cleaned & Aired below with Fires. Sailmakers repairing Sails. Hands drawing yarns. Opened a Cask of Beef Contents 66 Double pieces No. 1568

12 noon: Strong Gales and thick Misty Weather. Wore Ship. Under Close Reefed Top Sails and Courses. A few Albetrosses, Pintada Birds and Mother Carys Chicken
  Got a sight of the Sun at Noon by Time Keepers.
 Broached a Puncheon of Spruce Beer.
