Our Post is little incommoded by the Natives. In the Evenings they collect to see the Marines go through their Manovies [maneuvers], but at Sun down they retire and all becomes quiet. The Plants are doing well. I have this day 1194 Pots fitted and 4 Tubs 1090 Pots and 4 Tubs have Breadfruit Plants in them.

I have forgot on the 28th to give a description of the Great Evatah, or Evatarow as it is called, on which the Hogs were lying. This famous Altar is formed by three rows of stout Posts about 8 feet high, thirty six in number aranged regularly, so that the whole spave of ground it takes up, may be nearly forty feet by ten. From the Top of one Post to the other, Poles are secured to form a Platform which is covered with small branches and leaves to receive the Offerings. Round the sides the Evatah is prettily Ornamented with a Curtain of Cocoa Nutt leaves.
