1 pm: Fair Weather and Cloudy. A Cape Hen lighted on the Main Top Gallant Yard, many pieces of rock Weed
4 pm: Thick Misty Weather saw what the Whalers call a Right Whale. This is the Bone Whale and has two Blowholes, the Spermaceti having only one–
7 pm: Let Water into the Hold and worked the pumps to ventilate the Ship. —
8 pm: Thick Wetting mist. In all Steering Sails
10 pm: Thick Rainy Weather. Fires all Night to dry Cloaths and Air the Ship. —
1 am: Squally, Wind shifted suddenly. In 2nd & 3rd Reefs
4 am: Fresh Gale and Cloudy Weather. Out Reefs –
7 am: Set Fore Topmast Steering Sail – Saw several Cape Hens, Rock Weed, Oceanic Birds
9 am: Served thick Portable Soup Gruel for Breakfast – Sweet Wort at 10 OClock. Krout as usual and Bore Cole in the Pease for Dinner.—
10 am: Washed, & dried with Fires. Saw every Person clean dressed.—
11 am: Performed Divine Service. —
12 noon: Fresh Breezes and fair Weather. Sent a little fres Pork on board the Assistant
by a Line & Float.
