1 pm: Fresh Gale & Fair with a great Swell from the WSW & SW.—
4 pm: Made more Sail - Let Water into the Ship and pumped it out as usual to Ventilate the Hold.—
6 pm: Albetrosses, Large brown Sheerwaters and small Blue petterals.—
7 pm: A large Whale.
8 pm: Fires continued all Night to Air Ship
I consider this of all things the most conducive to health.
12 mid: Moderate & Fair Weather Up Top Gallant Yards
4 am: Gale increasing. In 2nd Reefs
6 am: Albetrosses, Sheerwaters & Small Blue backed Petterals and Mother Careys Chicken. —
8 am: Squally & a long heavy Sea from the SW which at times rolls us Gunnel to.—
10 am: Cleaned and dried below, and at 10 OClock I attended and gave every Man & Officer a pint of sweet Wort, or infusion of Malt.—
12 noon: Strong Gale and Fair Weather with a high Sea from the S.W. –
Ship rolling very deep —
