P. 86 - 4 Jun 1789 Remarks
After seeing the Reef I kept now in
shore to the SSW; SW & Ws- Came into shoal
water. Several Sandy Banks breaking.
Stood round them to the Northd. & steered
WbS. At 4 another Key appeared West -
I computed the Mean Course from the
beargs. of the Land as far a[s] 4 oClock. —
Steered for the Key & found it a barren Rock & bold
to. Having fair Sea I steered on WSW. not being
able to steer across heavy seas, if the Wind
comes southly. —
Towards Morning found a high Sea rung.
at Noon Fair Wr.
The Key is an entire Rock & the resort of
Boobies – I therefore called it Booby Key
