This day the sea run very high and we were very wet, suffering much cold in the night. I now remarked that the Surgeon Mr. Ledward and an old hardy Seaman Lawrence Lebogue giving way very fast. I could only assist them by a teaspoonfull or two of wine at day light. Amongst most of the others I observe more than a common inclination to Sleep a symptom of nature being almost reduced to its last effort.
Served 1/24 lb Bread and a Jill of water at Supper Breakfast and Dinner. Saw several Gannets and Signs of land which lies to the northward of us.
