The Government is carried on by a Magistrate and two Councillors who are elected on the 1st January every year, all questions are settled by them but appeal may be made to the Captain of the next Man of War

visiting the Island, whose decision is final. The present Magistrate is Moses Young, and the Schoolmaster and person who officiates as Clergyman, Simon Young.

All trading transactions go through the Magistrate who after consultation, allots the proportion of vegetables &c. that each family is to provide and I think all presents of any kind should be made through the Magistrate for the good of the Community.
